Configuring smtp to send emails in the backend of common website systems.

Most systems now have an email sending function, but many users do not know how to configure it, causing the program's mail-related functions to not work properly. Because the host does not support the mail function, if a website wants to use the email sending function, it needs to call an external smtp. At the same time, the mailbox itself must also enable the smtp/pop function for normal use. Common third-party smtp services are as follows:

Tencent QQ Mail (recommended): smtp.qq.com  Enable smtp/pop3:http://service.mail.qq.com/cgi-bin/help?subtype=1&&id=28&&no=166 (Note that Tencent Mail requires a separate security code Click to view instructions)

NetEase 163 Mail: smtp.163.net Enable smtp/pop3:http://help.163.com/10/0312/13/61J0LI3200752CLQ.html(Note that for NetEase free mail, the smtp password must be set separately Click to view instructions)

Tencent Enterprise Mail: smtp.exmail.qq.com

Gmail: smtp.gmail.com　(currently Gmail generally cannot be used in China)

Note: To configure and call a third-party smtp, the other party must enable the smtp service. If the settings are correct but emails cannot be sent, you need to check and verify whether the account and password are correct.

① Download the SMTP module,address: http://drupal.org/project/smtp

② Download the PHPMailer component.Address: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=26031&package_id=252700

③ Install the SMTP module.After downloading PHPMailer, extract it to the smtp directory

④ Configure Drupal's SMTP:

Log in to the Drupal backend as an administrator, select Administer – Site building – Modules, and find the SMTP module in the module list. After selecting it, click the "Save configuration" button.

Configure the SMTP module

As an administrator, select Administer – configuration – SMTP Authentication Support

Configuration instructions:

Turn this module on or off: On

SMTP server: SMTP server address, for example, Tencent QQ Mail is smtp.qq.com

SMTP backup server: same as above

SMTP port: port (usually 25)

Use encrypted protocol: whether to use SSL, determined by the third-party mailbox

Username: xxxx@xxx.com

Password: password

E-mail from address: xxx@xxx.com

E-mail from name: the name used to mark sent emails

After all settings are complete, click the "Save configuration" button to save.

Set the email address used by the site to send emails

As an administrator, select Administer – Site configuration – Site information; in the interface

E-mail address: must be the same as the E-mail from address in step 5.
