Published: 2020-01-19
Trademark renewal means that a trademark is valid for 10 years. If the holder wishes to continue to own the trademark before it expires, a trademark renewal application shall be filed with the Trademark Office in accordance with the provisions of the Trademark Law.
1. Time range for trademark renewal: When the term of a registered trademark expires, an application for renewal registration should be filed within 12 months before the expiration date. If no application is filed within that period, there is a 6-month grace period. If no application is filed within the grace period, the trademark will be cancelled.
2. Validity period after renewal: Trademark renewal can extend the exclusive right to use a trademark for 10 years, with no limit on the number of renewals.
3. Processing time for renewal: Approval is completed in about 2-3 months.
