Published: 2019-11-28
Common reasons that affect domain name resolution taking effect include:
Abnormal domain status; expired domain; the domain DNS or resolution records were just modified.
1. Resolution failure caused by abnormal domain status:
In a WHOIS query, if the domain status shows pendingverification, servehold, or clienthold, the domain cannot be resolved.
pendingverification: Waiting for naming review status. If this status appears, it means the domain is currently under naming review and cannot be resolved during this period. The review generally takes 1-3 business days;
servehold: Registry-set resolution hold. If this status appears, it means the domain has not passed real-name verification, or its resolution has been frozen due to disputes, illegal content, or other violations;
clienthold: Registrar-set resolution hold. If this status appears, it means the domain resolution has been frozen due to disputes, illegal content, or other violations;

② How to check the progress of domain real-name & naming review
Newly registered domains generally cannot be used immediately. You need to wait until both real-name verification and naming review have passed before they can be used normally.
You can check the domain review progress in [Management Center] - [Domain Management].

If real-name verification has been rejected multiple times, or if the domain information is incorrect and real-name verification cannot be completed, please complete it through a template-based transfer method. For details, refer to: https://www.west.cn/faq/list.asp?unid=746

2. Resolution failure caused by domain expiration
If the domain expires, the original resolution records will become invalid. You can check the domain expiration status in [Management Center] - Domain Management. To avoid business impact caused by domain expiration, we recommend that you always pay close attention to domain expiration, or renew for multiple years / enable auto-renewal.
3. The domain DNS or resolution was just modified
If you have just set or modified the domain DNS or resolution, due to the impact of domain TTL cache propagation, the changes will not take effect immediately;
Generally speaking, newly added resolution records take 24 hours to fully take effect, modified resolution records take 2 hours to fully take effect.
We strongly recommend that you use our official DNS. If you are not using our official DNS, the effective time is subject to the instructions of the corresponding DNS service provider.
