How to set up an email alias in enterprise email

Published: 2018-04-19

Sometimes an enterprise has multiple subsidiaries, or needs to use different email addresses internally and externally, or needs to use different email addresses when sending to different people. In this case, an email alias can be set up to distinguish them.

There are two types of alias settings: one is an enterprise-wide alias, and the other is an alias for an individual account. Both require logging in with an administrator account to set up.

I. Enterprise-wide alias, after setting, all users will generate a new alias-suffix email address.

1. Log in to the enterprise mail system, and click "Mail Administration" at the top.

4. If the following prompt appears, please check whether DNS records have been added as shown on the page, or whether the DNS records have taken effect.

5. Result after setup (Note: please add DNS records for the alias according to this tutorial so that mail can be sent and received normally. 全球云邮 Domain Name Resolution Method)

II. Alias set for an individual account: after setting, only this person's email alias will be updated.

1. Log in to Mail Administration with the postmaster administrator account, click "Organizations and Members", and click the user you want to modify.

3. Fill in the alias account to set. If you want to add multiple, you can click Add Another Alias Account. For example, xiaogao here. After adding, an email address xiaogao@****.gs will be generated. (Only write the part before @; no need to write the part after.)

Note:

1. The added alias can only be used to send and receive emails (you need to ensure that DNS records are added for the alias according to this tutorial so that mail can be sent and received normally. 全球云邮 Domain Name Resolution Method), and it cannot be used to log in to the mail system.

2. Users who use a client to send and receive emails should fill in the account information when setting up, not the alias information.
