Domain whois protection feature description
Published: 2019-12-05
1.whois protection and its function?
Domain privacy protection service is a domain registrant information protection service. Once enabled, the domain registration information will be hidden, preventing the registrant's information from being illegally stolen and reducing spam emails and telephone harassment.
It is suitable for users who are unwilling to disclose personal privacy information; individual and corporate domain holders troubled by spam; and customers worried about their personal information being illegally misappropriated.
If you need to display real contact information (such as for website filing or domain name for sale, etc.), please do not enable this feature!
2.Which domains at 西部数码 support enabling the Domain Privacy Protection Service, and is there a fee?
Currently, only .cn, .中国, and other second-level .cn domains registered through the 西部数码 interface support newly activating whois protection.
3.Can the domain be used normally after whois protection is enabled?
Yes. After whois protection is enabled, the domain can be managed as usual, and operations such as renewal, transfer, DNS modification, and resolution can be performed;
However, if you process a transfer out, you need to first disable this feature so that you can normally receive notifications or confirmation emails from the transfer-in party;
Note: After enabling this feature, the registrant must bear all consequences caused by their own inability to receive information from the domain contact email and telephone in a timely manner.
4.How do I set up the whois privacy protection service?
After logging in to your 西部数码 member account, click “Management Center - Domain Management - find the domain to enable - check whois protection”. After whois protection is enabled, our company's public information will generally be displayed during whois lookup.
5.In which situations may the Domain Privacy Protection Service be terminated early?
1) The user closes this service themselves (at the enabled location in Domain Management, uncheck the box to close this feature);
2) The domain name administration authority or domain name registration administration authority decides to terminate the service or notifies the registrar to terminate the service;
3) The state competent authority, judicial authority, domain name dispute resolution institution, etc. notifies the registrar to terminate the Domain Privacy Protection Service;
4) The user requests to transfer the domain to another domain name registration service institution;
5) The domain is in an abnormal state and/or there are disputes and conflicts;
6) The user fails to renew the paid Domain Privacy Protection Service (if any) upon expiration;
7) The user's subject qualification does not exist or has ceased to exist.
