Published: 2017-08-10

Foreword: DedeCMS is the most well-known CMS program and is widely used, but many friends are still not very familiar with DedeCMS. Based on ticket analysis, the problems in this article often occur. This time we have compiled them together, hoping to help novice friends. This article is very detailed, please read it carefully,

1. Description: "dedecms error warning: failed to connect to the database; the database password may be incorrect or the database server may have an error" as shown in the figure:

Analysis: This problem is likely to occur after migrating the server for a website built with DedeCMS. The reason is that the database connection information set in the program is incorrect and cannot connect to the database.

Solution: Correct the database connection information in the /data/common.inc.php file under the root directory, as shown in the figure. Please change the information in the red area to your own information and re-upload it to overwrite.

Notes:

1. Virtual hosting: For the database name and password, please check in Business Management -- Virtual Host Management -- Manage -- Database Management on the left (if using a standalone control panel, please check in Database Management on the left side of the panel).

2. Cloud server: Please check in the Website Building Assistant. If you set up the environment yourself, please verify by yourself.

3. Please download the common.inc.php file to your local machine via FTP, open and edit it with a code editing tool. Do not use Notepad to edit it, otherwise BOM will appear. EditPlus or DW is recommended.

2. Description: The verification code in the DedeCMS admin panel does not display

Analysis: This problem generally occurs in UTF-8 encoded DedeCMS. The reason is that the user directly used Notepad to edit the program files, resulting in a BOM header in the program.

Solution: Download the BOM cleanup tool to your local machine (download verification username: siteadmin, password: 110), extract it, upload the delbom.php file to the website root directory, then visit the file to automatically clean it (www.xxx.com/delbom.php), as shown in the figure.

3. Description: When installing DedeCMS, the following appears: Database server or login password is invalid, unable to connect to the database, please reset, as shown in the figure.

install_err.jpg

Analysis: The reason is that the database information you entered during installation is incorrect, causing failure to connect to the database.

Solution: Re-enter the correct database name and password, as shown in the figure. (Virtual hosting: For the database name and password, please check in Business Management -- Virtual Host Management -- Manage -- Database Management on the left. If using a standalone control panel, please check in Database Management on the left side of the panel. Cloud server: Please check in the Website Building Assistant. If you set up the environment yourself, please verify by yourself.)

4. Description: When installing the DedeCMS program, Dir appears  as shown in the figure.

Analysis: The reason for this problem is that the program has been installed before. After the DedeCMS program is installed, it appends bak to the end of the related file names in the install directory. This is a DedeCMS security mechanism, intended to prevent the program from being maliciously installed, as shown in the figure.

Solution: Log in to FTP, delete the index.html and install_lock.txt files, change index.php.bak to index.php, and change module-install.php.bak to module-install.php to install again.

5. Description: The DedeCMS program shows a blank page when visiting the homepage or other pages:

Analysis: This problem needs to be troubleshooted from the following aspects:

           1. First, check whether the accessed page file is normal. If the accessed page is 0KB, a blank page will appear. Solution: re-upload the related files or regenerate the static pages.

           2. If there are no table files in the database connected to the program, a blank page will appear, as shown in the figure. Please check and import the database before trying again. For MySQL import, refer to: http://faq.myhostadmin.net/faq/listagent.asp?unid=875

           3. The accessed file may contain BOM. Please refer to the method in point 2 to clean the BOM and try again.  If it still does not work after following the above methods, please contact the program developer to check the program.

6. Description: When visiting the site, the following appears: "/templets/default/index.htm Not Found!"

demonofond.jpg

Analysis: The reason is that the default homepage template called by the program does not exist.

Solution: Please check whether the default template directory mentioned in the error exists under the templets directory, or check whether there is an index.htm file under the default directory. If there is a problem, please contact the program developer to verify and re-upload the template to the templets directory.
