How is data traffic calculated? What does 10G per month mean?
Published: 2005-12-22
10G means 10*1000M. The traffic generated by downloading a 1M file 1,000 times is 1G; if downloaded 10,000 times, the traffic is 10G.
10G of traffic represents 10*1024*1024*1024 bytes per month, i.e., 10737418240. If your homepage is 60K bytes, then it can be downloaded 10737418240/61440 = 174,763 times within one month, which can support 170,000 users visiting your homepage. Of course, if users also visit other pages, traffic will also be consumed; the calculation is as above.
Generally speaking, the Basic 15G can support about 2,500 page views per day.
The Enterprise 30G can support about 5,000 page views per day (without providing download and other services).
Most enterprise websites receive fewer than 1,000 page views per day.
Special note: Traffic statistics come from the website access logs recorded by the web server on your server. In addition to the access traffic of your website users, the statistics also include traffic from download programs provided by your site. If files are hotlinked by other sites or crawled by search engine spiders, traffic will also be generated.
