By viewing detailed whois information, you can see important information of domain registration, as follows:

1) Domain Owner: This item indicates who the domain name belongs to. In the above example, REGISTANT is the owner.

Note: The Domain Owner item cannot be modified at will. For a domain whose owner is filled in as enterprise/organization information, modifying the owner requires going through domain ownership transfer procedures.

Therefore, users must pay special attention when filling it in. To modify this item, Internic considers it as transferring the domain name (transfer) to another registrant.

2) Administrative Contact: The administrative contact has the right to modify most records of the domain name, including the domain owner's address, postal code, telephone and fax numbers, the administrative contact itself, technical contact (introduced later), billing contact (introduced later), domain name servers (introduced later), etc.

3) Technical Contact: Its permissions are basically the same as the above administrative contact. A common arrangement is that the owner arranges a technical person from their own company as the administrative contact, and the ISP providing the network server acts as the technical contact; in this way, when needed, either the owner or the ISP can make modifications.
4) Billing Contact: The billing contact is mainly responsible for payment for the domain name. Internic's bill (invoice) is sent to the billing contact.
5) Domain Servers: These servers provide domain name resolution services for the registered domain name. Internic requires at least two domain name servers to ensure that domain name service is not interrupted. These domain name servers must be real and valid servers on the Internet. These domain name servers must provide DNS services for the registered domain name, that is, provide the mail exchanger records under the registered domain name, the IP addresses of each server, etc.

What is the difference between domain owner and domain administrative contact?

Domain owner and domain administrative contact are different concepts. The owner enjoys ownership of the domain name.

The domain owner is the owner of the domain name. If the domain name belongs to a company, the domain owner should be filled in with the company name; if the domain name belongs to an individual, the domain owner should be filled in with the individual's name. According to the regulations of the domain name management authority, owner information is required to be true, correct, and complete.

The domain administrative contact is the contact person who performs daily management of the domain name. The contact person's telephone number and email address must be true and valid, so that they can be contacted in time and can normally receive emails related to domain name business.

When a domain belongs to an individual, the domain administrative contact can also be the same as the domain owner.

Why is some information found in whois information not the registrant's?

The whois protection function has been used; the displayed content is Expiration Date: whois protect.

Some domain names use the whois information protection function provided by 西部数码, which is very effective for protecting the privacy information of domain owners. Such information will be displayed during whois query as the unified domain information contact data of 西部数码, and the real registration information of the domain will not be disclosed. The actual domain ownership can be viewed through managing the domain in [Domain Management].
