ftp Common Error Collection

Q: When uploading large files, the connection is often reset and interrupted. Specific errors are as shown in the screenshot, or it directly displays "Connection reset"

A: Please switch to active mode connection in the FTP software. Because our company's firewall is configured to interrupt TCP idle after 30 minutes; if passive mode is used to upload larger files, it will cause timeout and be interrupted and reset. 7. Status: Connecting to: xx.xx.xx.xx, port 31 (#1)

9. Status: Connecting to xxx.gotoip4.com ... Error: Unable to connect to xx.xx.xx.xx:21
A: Note that the upload address should be xxx.gotoftp4.com
10. Unable to upload web pages, FTP failure—prompt "Unable to connect to server" error.
A: Cause of problem: FTP client program settings issues, customer's Internet line issues, ftp server-side issues.
Solution: It is recommended that customers use CUTPFTP software to upload their web pages. In the "FTP host address" field, it is best to enter the IP address. If a socket error is prompted when the customer uploads, please check whether there is an option using pasv mode in the firewall under Connection in the Edit menu of the software you use. If it is checked, uncheck this option and you can connect to the host.
11. When using FTP, authentication has already passed, but the directory still cannot be listed?
A: Cause: The FTP client program of the upload software you are using should not have PASV mode and firewall setting selected.
Solution: It is recommended to use Cuteftp4.2 software. In Edit->Setting…->Connection->Firewall, remove the "PASV mode" option.
12. What happens if the uploaded file exceeds my disk quota?
A: You will receive a system prompt and will be unable to upload anything else (the byte count after file upload will be zero).
13. After uploading web pages, the access result is "Forbidden". What is the reason?
A: Cause: This result is because the corresponding directory lacks an index file. Its name must be one of index.html, index.htm, or index.shtml. If the index file is missing, the server will display this prompt to prevent others from seeing what files are in your directory.
Solution: Please change the file name to index.html.
14. How do I know the total size of files I have uploaded to the host?
A: You can check the space usage through the host capacity in the virtual hosting control panel.
15. A SOCKET error is prompted when logging in via FTP.
A: Handle it according to http://www.west.cn/faq/list.asp?unid=32.
